Welcome BRASS Farm!
The 2008 Beginning! We are new to both American Blackbelly and Painted Desert Sheep, but please don't dismiss us. We are NOT new to breeding quality livestock! We love developing a strong breeding program and are very health and quality conscious. We have raised Arabians and Section B Welsh Ponies in the past, but after returning to college in 2000 and starting a new career, the intense handling of foals and showing was too much. It was difficult, but we sold out most of our herd in 2005. Some of the successful ponies born here will be posted on our horses page in the future as well as our current riding horses. It didn't take long to miss our hobby and after visiting an uncle in Texas we fell in love with his Boer goats and American Blackbelly Sheep. After a lot of discussion on what would work well with our careers and family we made the decision to start out with a small number of quality American Blackbelly Sheep. We started doing all the research we could on the Internet due to a lack of farms located in Northern Minnesota and ultimately made several purchases from across the states. In this research we also discovered the Painted Desert Sheep and added a few to our farm. We are now one year into our program and loving it! Please enjoy browsing our web pages!!

WELCOME to our farm! We are dedicated to confirmation and quality as well as breed standard. We will strive improve the breed with dedication to breeding large bodied strong and full of substance. We love to travel and plan to do so to continually improve our herds. BBSAI and open records: We maintain strict breeding records and most of our American Blackbelly are registered with the Barbados Blackbelly Sheep Association International. We have a strict buyer beware policy and welcome any buyer to look at breeding records as well as any individual sheep record. We will be working to keep our stock as natural as we can in a captive habitat. We have recently started our goats on a regimen of Diatomaceous Earth which is an all natural parasite elimination program. Diatomaceous Earth is not only healthy for animals, but is consumed by humans as well.
*****Our flock is registered with the Minnesota Board of Animal Health as part of the National Scrapie Eradication Program. NOTE: There has never been a known case of Scrapie in American Blackbelly or Painted Desert Sheep Breeds.
MEET BUCKWHEAT AT 1 & 1/2 YEARS. HE IS A FIZZGIGG SON AND ONE OF OUR HERD SIRES (BORN 4/02/2007)

We have no idea how old Chester is. We purchased this never been brushed mess for $30 and will never complain. Joel had me by one arm pulling me out the back door of the sales barn and I had the other in the air. After Chester and I had a couple disagreements and two full days of cutting and brushing, Chester is here to stay. He loves the sheep, hates the dogs, and has to check out everything we do. Joel frequently turns around while feeding to have two big eyes meet his own...sometime a so close it is a little freaky. |
